Using our web based service, you can make changes to your domain records stored on our central database server. The data is then published at set intervals to a zone file in TinyDNS format, run through tinydns-data and both the text and cdb data files are securely sent via rsync over ssh to all the servers on YOUR DNS network.
Now you can enjoy the the security, convenience and speed of controlling and operating your own DNS servers while still benefiting from centralized management, a web based front end and off site storage of zone data, all for an incredibly low annual fee. Plus, you can offer web based management of your clients domains directly to your end users!
How does it work?
A special ISP account is created for you, which allows you to create and delete domains and associated dns records in our database for each of your domains using our web based front end.
At set intervals, any changes made to records in your account will cause a “zone file dump” which creates both a text and tiny-dns server binary files. These two files are then securely sent to YOUR dns servers which immediately makes the changes available to your users.
What is Tiny-DNS?
Tiny-DNS is a free, open source, highly secure, authoritative dns server software package written by Dan Bernstein ( http://cr.yp.to/djbdns.html ) We chose this package because of its simplicity in zone file format, its security and ease of installation and operation.
Can you publish BIND or any other zone file formats?
We currently do not offer or have any plans to offer zone publishing service for any other dns server package other than Tiny-DNS.
